While the summer is still in full swing, preparations for the 2025/26 winter sports season are already in full swing. The South Tyrolean Winter Sports Federation (FISI) has now announced the composition of its regional Alpine skiing squad. The key message: the focus is on continuity in the coaching team and at the same time integrating promising new talent into the teams.
The decision to leave the management team unchanged is a direct consequence of the outstanding performances of the previous season. Under the sporting direction of Christian Thoma and head coaches Enrico Vicenzi (men) and Tizian Gabrielli (women), the young athletes celebrated great successes, which culminated in a veritable shower of medals at the Italian Youth Championships.
The nine-strong men's team will continue to be led by head coach Enrico Vicenzi and his assistant Daniel Dorigo. New additions to the squad are Alois Köllemann (ASV Vinschger Oberland) and Christian Kostner (Schi Club Gherdeina). They join the established athletes David Castlunger, Max Clara, Jonas Feichter, Noah Gamper, Luis Schuster, Lukas Sieder and Alex Silbernagl. As part of the intensive pre-season preparation, the team has already been on the glaciers in Hintertux and Les 2 Alpes. After focusing on athletics in the summer, the team will now train at the Wittenburg indoor ski center (Germany) before heading to a camp in Ushuaia, Argentina, at the end of September.
There are also new additions to the women's team. Coaches Tizian Gabrielli and Florian Runggaldier welcome three new faces to the eight-strong team: Hanna Bachmann (SC Roen Tramin), Sophie Schweigl (Kronplatz Ski Team) and Alenah Taschler (ASC Gsiesertal). They train alongside Eva Sophia Blasbichler, Nora Damian, Leonie Girtler, Hanna Hofer and Nora Pernstich. The women's training schedule is just as demanding and, after camps in Austria and France, includes a fitness week, training sessions in the ski hall and glacier training on the Stilfser Joch and in the Stubaital. In November, a final training camp in Sweden will provide the finishing touches.
