Rome – Jannik Sinner introduced Sweden’s Magnus Norman as his new coach on Friday, November 6. The former world number two will join the team in early December. He succeeds Australian Darren Cahill, whose partnership with Sinner ends after the 2026 season. Italian Simone Vagnozzi remains technical director and will work alongside Norman.
Sinner and his team announced the change on Friday. In a video, the South Tyrolean said goodbye to Cahill, who joined him and Vagnozzi in June 2022. The technical director’s role thus remains with a coach who supported Sinner during his rise to the top of the world rankings. Norman joins a team that has accompanied Sinner since his break in July because of a right knee injury.
Norman has experience as both player and coach. As a professional, he won the Rome Masters and the Davis Cup with Sweden. He also reached the French Open final at Roland Garros. He later coached Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka during his three Grand Slam titles. In Sinner’s team, the Swede will work with Vagnozzi in this arrangement for the first time.
Jannik Sinner won five Grand Slam titles with Cahill
During just over four years with Cahill, Sinner won five Grand Slam titles and the ATP Finals in 2024 and 2025. The men’s season-ending tournament brings together the year’s most successful players. Sinner first reached the top of the world rankings in June 2024. Cahill and Vagnozzi had coached the Italian together since 2022.
Norman’s arrival comes as Sinner prepares for his return. After his injury, he is expected to appear at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh in late December. The tournament in Saudi Arabia is an invitation exhibition. Sinner has not yet announced when he will return to the ATP Tour.
