Maranello – The 2026 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia season ended with an exciting finale. Enzo Cheng claimed the Trofeo Pirelli title after a points tie, while David Trewern and Ross Tomain also won their championships.
The championship comprised five rounds and was marked by close competition from the start. Numerous drivers celebrated their first wins, and titles were often decided only in the final races. The series took competitors from Bathurst to Sydney.
Close title battles to the end
At Bathurst, Enzo Cheng (Ferrari Sydney) opened the Trofeo Pirelli season with a win, followed by Rick Armstrong (Continental Cars Ferrari) in race 2. David Trewern (Ferrari Gold Coast) dominated the Coppa Shell with two wins, while Richard Moore (Continental Cars Ferrari) did the same in the Trofeo Pirelli 488. At Phillip Island, Armstrong took his second Trofeo Pirelli victory, Aemel Nordin (Ferrari Adelaide) his first Coppa Shell win and Ross Tomain (Ferrari Gold Coast) his first Trofeo Pirelli 488 win.
In round three at The Bend, Damien Hamilton (Ferrari Melbourne) took his first Trofeo Pirelli win with a last-lap move. Steve Wyatt (Barbagallo Ferrari) won the following race after a five-way battle. Trewern and Andrew Cogan (Ferrari Melbourne) split the Coppa Shell wins, while Tomain extended his Trofeo Pirelli 488 winning streak. At Queensland Raceway’s debut, Hamilton dominated both Trofeo Pirelli races and Trewern completed a Coppa Shell double. Tomain sealed the Trofeo Pirelli 488 title early with his sixth consecutive win.
At the Sydney Motorsport Park finale, the Trofeo Pirelli title was decided only in the last race. Cheng won race 1, reducing the gap to five points. Second place in the final race behind Wyatt left him level on points with Jim Pollicina (Ferrari Sydney), and Cheng won the title on the tie-break rule. Trewern had already secured the Coppa Shell, and Tomain arrived in Sydney as Trofeo Pirelli 488 champion. Masahiro Taguchi won the final Coppa Shell race, while Andrei Cheng (Ferrari Sydney) celebrated his first win.
Enzo Cheng became Trofeo Pirelli champion, adding the title to his 2025 Coppa Shell victory. Consistent pace and a decisive performance at the season’s key moment underpinned his success. The 2027 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia calendar was also unveiled during the final round in Sydney and will again comprise five events.
