A shocking accident overshadowed the "Sabaudia Sunset Jazz Festival 2025" in Latina in the Lazio region. Adriano Poponessi, a 50-year-old waiter who was taking a break at a beach bar in Sabaudia, tragically choked on a piece of mozzarella on the afternoon of July 26.
Despite immediate attempts to help by bystanders and the quickly arriving emergency services, the man could not be saved. The paramedics immediately recognized the dramatic situation and called for a helicopter, which flew Poponessi to Goretti Hospital in Latina. Although he was resuscitated there, the cardiac arrest was too severe. He never recovered.
The concert, for which around a thousand people had flocked to the beach, was stopped immediately after this unbelievable incident. The news spread quickly and left festival-goers and colleagues deeply shocked.
