A terrible tragedy has shaken the municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi in the province of Teramo. Parents found their 27-year-old son dead in his room. The young man was sitting lifeless in front of his computer and was wearing a gas mask. All help came too late for him; the emergency services were only able to determine that he was dead.
According to initial findings, the man died from inhaling cooling gas, which he is said to have inhaled through his mask. No traces of violence or external injuries could be found on the body, which initially makes it unlikely that he was not to blame. The exact circumstances of his death are now the subject of an intensive investigation.
Investigators look into connection with internet challenge
The carabinieri of the provincial command of Teramo have taken up the investigation and are examining all possible scenarios. A particular focus is on the digital world. They are investigating the hypothesis that the 27-year-old could have been the victim of one of the many dangerous dares circulating on social networks and streaming platforms. His computer, cell phone and other IT material were confiscated to follow up on this lead.
So far, however, there is no concrete evidence to support this theory. The body of the deceased was transferred to the morgue at Teramo hospital. There it is available to the public prosecutor's office, which will decide in the coming days whether to order an autopsy in order to clarify the exact cause of death beyond doubt.
