Great concern in Venice-Mestre for the life of a toddler. A boy aged just one and a half is fighting for his life after falling from the fifth floor of the renowned children's hospital in Padua. Only a fortunate circumstance apparently prevented an even greater tragedy in the terrible accident on Saturday evening. The community is now hoping and fearing for the family.
Fall from a height of 15 meters
The accident occurred in the home of a family of Bengali origin who had been living in Mestre for ten years. According to initial reconstructions, the mother was at home alone with her son while the father was at work. In an unobserved moment, the little boy apparently managed to squeeze himself between the iron bars of the terrace railing and plunge down. Miraculously, however, his fall from a height of around 15 meters was stopped by a plastic roof, which cushioned the impact considerably. The emergency services, who were alerted immediately, stabilized the seriously injured child at the scene of the accident and then took him to the highly specialized children's hospital in Padua. The boy is currently receiving intensive medical care there; his condition is described as life-threatening.
