Following the tragic death of 20-year-old Simona Cinà, the public prosecutor's office in Termini Imerese issued an official statement today in response to numerous media reports and clarified crucial details. The young woman was found lifeless in the early morning of August 2 in the pool of a villa after a party.
According to the judicial authorities, the body was discovered by guests in a poorly lit part of the pool at around 4 am. Initial attempts at resuscitation by other young men and later by the ambulance service that arrived were unsuccessful. The Carabinieri immediately launched an investigation.
The public prosecutor's office firmly refuted the claim that the crime scene had been "cleaned up". On the contrary, numerous glasses, bottles and other objects were found and seized as evidence, indicating that a party had taken place there. The information that the clothing of the deceased was found by relatives is also false. The clothes were confiscated by the authorities for the investigation.
All persons still present at the time the police arrived were identified, questioned and cooperated, according to the statement. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The authorities urgently appealed to the media to refrain from spreading further false information so as not to jeopardize the complete clarification of the case.
