Rome - The Italian capital is being rocked by a series of sexual assaults. A man who has already been arrested is suspected of having sexually assaulted not one, but two women within a short period of time. The suspect was only arrested by the Carabinieri on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted and raped a 60-year-old woman in the Tor Tre Teste park on Sunday morning. Now the suspicion is growing that he is responsible for another crime.
Brutal assault at the bus stop
According to the investigators, the second incident took place early on Tuesday morning. A 44-year-old woman was waiting for the bus on Via Prenestina when she was approached by a man on the pretext of asking for a cigarette. Suddenly, he forcibly dragged her into a secluded alley and forced her to perform repeated sexual acts in a garbage dump. After the crime, the woman sought help at the Agostino Gemelli hospital, from where the police were alerted. Thanks to her detailed description of the perpetrator and his clothing, the carabinieri from the Monte Mario station were quickly able to establish a link to the case in Tor Tre Teste. When confronted with photographs, the victim identified the man, who was already in custody, without any doubt as her tormentor. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the investigation against the man was extended to include the urgent suspicion of this further case of sexual violence.
