Madrid - Jannik Sinner's run of success at the ATP 1000 tournament in Spain continues. The world number one from Sesto needed less than an hour and a half to defeat the Danish qualifier Elmer Moller (world number 169) 6:2 and 6:3. Although Sinner gave up his serve briefly in the first set at 5:1, the South Tyrolean largely dominated the match on the clay court. He will now face Cameron Norrie from Great Britain or Argentina's Thiago Agustin Tirante in the round of 16.
Musetti follows Sinner into the next round
Lorenzo Musetti is also through to the round of 16 at the Masters in Madrid. The world number nine won 6:4 and 7:5 in one hour and 41 minutes against the 33rd-ranked Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor. After the match, Musetti explained that he had always remained attentive and calm despite losing some pace, which was the key to victory. In the next round, the Italian will face the Czech Jiri Lehecka. Flavio Cobolli and Luciano Darderi had already won their matches the day before.
Out for the doubles Errani and Paolini
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini were eliminated in the round of 16 in the women's doubles of the „Mutua Madrid Open“, which is held at the Caja Magica and has prize money of around 8.2 million euros. The number one seeded duo lost 4:6, 6:4 and 10:6 to Germany's Laura Siegemund and Russia's Vera Zvonareva, ending Paolini's tournament in Spain for good after she had already been eliminated in the singles the day before.
