Change of leadership among the favorites
After a setback on the previous day, Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli fought back impressively with their Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS. They regained the lead with the first time trial of the day - a clear statement against the Argentinian challengers Erejomovich and Llanos, who had briefly led the field the day before. However, they are far from admitting defeat: with their Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS, they still have victory in their sights and are considered a serious threat in the final series of tests.
In third place are Tonconogy-Ruffini in the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider. They also impressed with a strong performance and experience, which could be decisive in the final sprint.
Historical flair meets sporting ambition
Today's route for the final stage is peppered with cultural highlights and Italian history. The day began with the first time trials near Soragna in the province of Parma - a picturesque start in Emilia-Romagna.
This was followed by impressive passages through Roncole Verdi and a stop in charming Busseto, where the vehicles drove under the clock tower of the Palazzo della Rocca Pallavicino - a backdrop straight out of a movie.
A special highlight of the day was the return of the Freccia Rossa (Red Arrow), as the1000 Miglia is affectionately known, to the old town of Cremona after a four-year break. A stamp check was carried out in front of the imposing Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral - an emotional moment for fans and participants alike.
New stations and exciting tests followed.
For the first time in the history of the Mille Miglia, the rally entourage stopped in Soncino, where the last decisive series of time trials was started in front of the medieval Rocca Sforzesca. Orzinuovi also celebrated its premiere as a time control point - another sign of how the Mille Miglia is breaking new ground every year without losing its tradition.
Finale with pleasure and emotion
The route continued through the charming towns of Pontoglio, Palazzolo, Adro and Erbusco - right through the heart of Franciacorta, Italy's famous sparkling wine region. In front of the headquarters of the Consorzio Franciacorta, the teams once again passed Italian wine culture in its purest form before the final stamp controls in Travagliato and Gussago.
After five intense stages, more than 1900 kilometers driven and a multitude of emotional highlights, the 1000 Miglia 2025 is heading towards its grand finale. The final kilometers will decide whether Vesco-Salvinelli can defend their title or will be knocked off the throne by their Argentinian challengers Erejomovich-Llanos.
Then finally the return to Brescia, the city of the 1000 Miglia. At around 11 a.m., the modern Ferraris of the "Tribute to Mille Miglia" arrived - the starting signal for a spectacular finale. Around an hour later, the 1000 Miglia Green vehicles followed, and then the stars of the show, the 430 historic vehicles of the main event, rolled onto Viale Venezia to the enthusiastic applause of the spectators.
One thing is already certain: this Mille Miglia was once again a celebration of technology, elegance and passion. And it proves that history lives - and drives Alfa Romeo.
Stay tuned - we'll keep you posted on who ends up lifting the trophy in Brescia.
