A soccer match at the "Liternum" campsite in Varcaturo near Giugliano in Campania came to a dramatic end yesterday evening. A 15-year-old youth was stabbed in the stomach during an altercation. His life is in danger following an operation for a liver perforation. He was immediately taken to the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital in Pozzuoli.
The suspected attacker, an 18-year-old, was quickly tracked down and arrested thanks to witness descriptions. He is accused of attempted murder. According to reports, the 18-year-old was very nervous during the game. The argument escalated after his brother was insulted, which was probably the trigger for the violence.
Witnesses reported that a knife suddenly appeared, which the 18-year-old had apparently hidden in his pocket or received from his brother. He used the knife to seriously injure the 15-year-old.
The 18-year-old, who was wearing an SSC Napoli jersey and black shorts at the time of the crime, voluntarily handed over his bloodstained clothing to the carabinieri, with his mother present. He was cooperative and led the investigators to the place where he claimed to have thrown away the knife. However, the knife could not be found. The arrest of the 18-year-old was requested by the deputy public prosecutor of Naples North, Giuseppe Vitolo.
