Milan – AC Milan has completed the most expensive transfer in the club’s history: center forward Gonçalo Ramos is moving from Paris Saint-Germain to the Rossoneri. The Lombardy-based club is paying around 70 million euros for the Portuguese striker—more than the club has ever spent on a single player.
The transfer fee consists of a base amount of about 60 million and additional bonus payments. For the forward, born in 2001, this is a major step forward: In Paris, despite his strong scoring average, he was often only a backup behind the team’s superstars. In Milan, he is now set to take on a central role in the attack and wear the number 9 jersey.
What Ramos Brings to AC Milan
The deal was finalized quickly. While the soccer world’s attention was focused on the ongoing World Cup, Ramos underwent his medical exam far from the hustle and bustle in the U.S. On the field, team officials are pinning their hopes on him to provide more firepower: The Portuguese player is regarded as a powerful striker in the box with a good finish and the ability to hold up the ball.
With this signing, AC Milan is sending a clear message for the upcoming season. After a few mixed years, the storied club aims to compete for the top spots in Serie A once again and make an impact on the international stage. However, a record-breaking transfer of this magnitude also raises expectations—both for the striker and for the coaching staff, who must build the team around their new center forward.
