CAREZZA - Around three months before the starting signal, the organizers of the Snowboard World Cup in Carezza Dolomites have received the green light from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). After the traditional summer inspection on the Carezza Pass, FIS race directors Uwe Beier and Peter Krogoll were confident and gave the local organizing committee led by chairman Andreas Obkircher valuable feedback for the prestigious 15th edition of the race on Thursday, 18 December.
The collaboration between the Carezza World Cup venue and the FIS is one of the longest and most successful in the parallel snowboarding circuit. The upcoming anniversary is a clear commitment to the location and the high quality of the organization in Val d'Ega.
Praise from the FIS: The most technically demanding slope in the World Cup
The organizers were particularly pleased with the feedback from FIS Race Director Uwe Beier, who presented a remarkable result from a survey of the athletes: the Pra-di-Tori slope is considered by the world's best snowboarders to be the most technically demanding in the entire World Cup. This praise underlines the sporting significance of the race, which is even higher this year. "The parallel giant slalom next December will take place during the Olympic season and will therefore be even more important, especially for the strong Italian athletes in view of the Olympic Games in their own country," emphasized Beier.
Anniversary edition on track with a full program
The local organizing committee is already working hard on the preparations to meet the high expectations. "We reviewed last year's event and received some very useful suggestions. We are ready to further optimize the course based on the suggestions we received," explained OC boss Andreas Obkircher. The program for the race week is already set: After the arrival and training days, the traditional inauguration of the gondola with the names of last year's winners will take place on Wednesday, 17 December, followed by the public starting number draw. On Thursday, December 18, qualifying will begin at 9 am before the 16 fastest men and women battle it out for victory in the spectacular knockout finals from 12:30 pm.
