Sesto - In just a few days, the picturesque Val Fiscalina will be transformed into a nocturnal sports arena when the first Three Peaks Winter Night Run starts on Friday, February 27 at 18:00. Preparations for this new running highlight in South Tyrol are in full swing. To increase the anticipation, the organizing committee under the direction of Alfred Prenn has a special surprise in store for last-minute runners: with the „4 for 3“ promotion, one person will receive a starting place free of charge if four people register at the same time.
Unique circuit in the UNESCO World Heritage Site
The route of the night run stretches over 13 kilometers and covers a moderate elevation gain of 238 meters. The start is at the cross-country ski trail at the Hotel Waldheim. From there, the route leads the participants, who compete in classic style with running shoes on perfectly prepared snow, in the direction of Moos and on to the Fischleintal hut. A particular highlight of the route is the section to the Talschlusshütte hut, which lies majestically at the foot of the Einserkofel and the Sesto sundial. After a short loop, the runners return to the finish area at the Hotel Waldheim.
International interest is already high before the first starting signal: participants from eight different nations have already announced their intention to experience the special atmosphere in the Sesto Dolomites. In addition to the sporting ambition, the focus is on the community experience.
Pasta party and categories for every taste
The Drei Zinnen Winter Night Run is deliberately broad-based. In a total of eleven categories - from juniors to the 70+ age group - the top three finishers are each honored with non-cash prizes. Those who like it less competitive can take part in the „Just for Fun“ category. The focus here is on enjoying the wintry outdoors without time pressure or the need for a license.
After the sporting effort, the organizer invites all participants and spectators to a big pasta party at „Sport Sexten“. Online registration is still possible until Wednesday, February 25th. After that, registration will only be possible on site. The current entry fee is 35 euros and increases to 40 euros from the 100th participant.
