Sexten – On September 12, the 29th edition of the South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run will take place in Sexten. This traditional mountain race in the Dolomites is renewing its partnership with the Austrian Grossglockner Mountain Run, which will take place on July 5. Athletes who successfully complete both races will automatically be entered into a special raffle featuring several prizes.
According to a statement from the organizers, the Drei Zinnen Alpine Run course covers 17.9 kilometers with 1,354 meters of elevation gain through the Fischleinbach Valley and around the Drei Zinnen. The Grossglockner Mountain Run, on the other hand, covers 13.3 kilometers and 1,300 meters of elevation gain, starting in Heiligenblut, passing through the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Pasterze Glacier, and ending at the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. Both events are considered classics in alpine running and are known for their impressive routes.
Prizes in the combination drawing include, among other things, Mizuno trail running shoes, race entries and overnight stays for the 2027 Grossglockner Mountain Run, a starting spot for the Drei Zinnen Alpine Run 2027, including two nights’ lodging at the Berghotel Tyrol in Sexten, a tandem flight over the Sesto Dolomites with Tandemfly 3 Cime, and a guided alpine tour to the Große Zinne with the Drei Zinnen Mountain Guide School. Winners will be selected by random drawing, regardless of time or placement.
Registration for the 29th Alpine Run is already underway; runners from twelve countries are currently registered. The field is limited to 1,000 participants; the race traditionally begins at Haus Sexten. The discounted entry fee is 87 euros. The following day, September 13, the Mini Drei Zinnen Alpine Run for children and teenagers will also take place around the valley station of the Monte Elmo cable car. According to event director Alfred Prenn and his team, they are preparing for the event with great dedication.
