Sesto - The South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run is gearing up for the 29th edition of its renowned trail run. On September 12, endurance athletes from all over the world will once again set off for the Dolomites around Sesto to compete on the challenging 17.9-kilometre course with 1,354 meters of altitude.
The organizers from the ALV Sesto Dolomites are already experiencing great interest: according to the press office, over 340 runners have registered, coming from eleven countries. In addition to runners from Italy, Austria and Germany, participants from Bulgaria, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Great Britain are also registered. The maximum number of participants is limited to 1,000 athletes in order to guarantee a high-quality experience for all runners.
The route leads from Haus Sexten via the village of Moos to the Fischleintal meadows, where runners complete four kilometers through flower-filled mountain meadows and larch stands. After further challenging climbs, the competition ends at 2,405 meters at the Rifugio Locatelli. The spectacle takes place in the Three Peaks UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the race, young runners also take part in the Mini Alpine Run the following day in various age groups up to 18 years.
Registration is online and the regular fee is waived: runners pay 87 euros until August 31. According to chairman Alfred Prenn of the ALV Sextner Dolomiten, the high number of participants is proof of the successful organization. The proximity to the 30th edition next year makes the 29th edition even more significant.
