Imagine standing at the first tee of a 27-hole course that Arnold Palmer designed on a flat plain just outside Venice: A par-72 championship course, artificial lakes that come into play on 12 of the 18 holes, and a 16th-century villa behind you. This is the Ca‘ della Nave Golf Club in Martellago, about 15 kilometers west of the lagoon city.
The course is one of the best-known in northern Italy. The clubhouse is located in Villa Priuli Grimani Morosini, a historic country estate nestled in the heart of one of the region’s oldest parks. Water features are a prominent part of nearly the entire round, and wide fairways and mature trees transform the flat terrain into a varied parkland course.
If you want to combine golf with a city trip to Venice, you'll find one of the best combinations of location and challenge here. You can find more courses in the area in our overview of Golf Vacations in Veneto.

The Course: 27 holes set among lakes and mature trees
The championship course is a par-72 layout measuring approximately 6,350 meters from the white tees and is challenging despite its flat terrain: Artificial lakes come into play on 12 of the 18 holes, and wide fairways and mature trees characterize the round. If you prefer a shorter round or want to practice your game, you can play on the adjacent 9-hole executive course—together, the two courses offer a total of 27 holes. The handicap limit is 54, so you’ll need to have a course proficiency certificate.
Who designed the Ca‘ della Nave Golf Club?
The course was designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer, who planned it in the late 1980s; it opened in 1988. Palmer’s signature style is evident in the strategic use of water: the man-made lakes constantly force you to choose between playing it safe and taking a bold shot. For many, Ca‘ della Nave is therefore considered one of the best courses in northern Italy.
Villa Grimani: The Clubhouse and Its Amenities
The clubhouse is the heart of the resort: it is housed in Villa Priuli Grimani Morosini, a 16th-century villa surrounded by a historic park. In addition to the „Le Serre“ restaurant and bar, the facility features a well-stocked pro shop, cart and trolley rentals, club rentals, a caddie service, locker rooms, and three swimming pools. The practice facilities include a driving range with 15 tees (6 covered), putting, pitching, and chipping greens, a practice bunker, and a 3-hole short course.
Getting There and the Best Time to Visit
The Ca‘ della Nave Golf Club is located at Piazza della Vittoria 14 in Martellago, about 15 kilometers west of Venice. It’s only about a 15-minute drive from Venice-Marco Polo Airport, and Treviso Airport is also just over 30 minutes away. The course is open year-round; it’s particularly pleasant to play in the spring and fall, when it’s neither too hot nor too humid. In the summer, you should tee off early; in the winter, fog can roll in over the flat plains.
Who would enjoy the Ca‘ della Nave Golf Club?
The course is well worth a visit for ambitious golfers looking for a challenging, water-rich championship course who would like to combine their day of golf with a side trip to Venice. It’s also ideal for those who enjoy a leisurely experience: a historic villa, restaurant, and pools turn a round of golf into a full day out. Thanks to the executive course, short course, and large driving range, beginners and those looking to practice will also find plenty to enjoy.
Ca‘ della Nave is less suitable if you’re looking for rolling landscapes with panoramic views—the flat Venetian plain dominates here. You can find more camping spot recommendations throughout Italy in our overview of Golf in Italy.
