Behind the pine trees of Milano Marittima, just a strip of forest away from the Adriatic Sea, 27 holes await you: The Adriatic Golf Club Cervia features three nine-hole loops spread across flat coastal terrain; the classic 18-hole combination is a par 72 course measuring approximately 6,300 meters. The beach begins just a few kilometers away.
The course is nestled between a centuries-old pine forest and the famous salt lakes of Cervia. Since all 27 holes have been planted with the salt-tolerant „Riviera“ variety of Bermuda grass following renovations between 2008 and 2011, you can play here practically all year round—mild in winter, green in midsummer.
For you as a golf traveler, Cervia offers a rare combination of a beach vacation and championship golf—a key component of your Golf Vacations in Emilia-Romagna.

The Course: 27 holes nestled among pine trees and salt lakes
The Adriatic Golf Club Cervia consists of three very different nine-hole loops that you can freely combine into 18-hole rounds. The red course (par 36, approximately 3,230 m) winds its way through an unspoiled pine forest in classic style, while the blue course (par 36, approximately 3,040 m) is dotted with lakes and bunkers and is reminiscent of major U.S. courses. The newest yellow loop (par 35, approximately 3,090 m) is inspired by Scottish links courses and plays noticeably differently in windy conditions.
Overall, the course is flat and easy to walk—the challenge lies less in elevation gain than in water hazards, winds from the Adriatic Sea, and strategically placed bunkers. Because the course is so close to the sea, the sea breeze complicates what looks easy on paper.
Who designed the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia?
The red and blue courses were designed by Italian architect Marco Croze, who laid out the first 18 holes in the pine forest in the late 1980s (Red in 1986, Blue in 1987). In 2004, the Yellow Course was added, designed by professional golfer Baldovino Dassù in collaboration with architect Alvise Rossi Fioravanti.
These distinctive features are what make the courses so appealing: Croze focused on natural woodland fairways and water features, while Dassù and Rossi Fioravanti opted for open, undulating links-style designs. Between 2008 and 2011, all 27 holes were converted to Bermuda grass—one reason for the course’s playability throughout the year.

Golf, the Beach, and Tournaments: The Course
The practice facilities are spacious: a driving range with 20 tees (6 covered), separate putting, pitching, and chipping greens, a practice bunker, and a 3-hole short course for warming up or for beginners. In the clubhouse, you’ll find a pro shop, locker rooms with lockers, and a bar and restaurant where you can stop for a bite after your round.
Cervia has made sports history: In 1996, the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia hosted the 81st Open d’Italia. If you’d like, you can rent clubs, a golf cart, or an e-cart right on site. And since the beach at Milano Marittima is just minutes away, a round of golf can be perfectly combined with a dip in the Adriatic Sea.
Getting There and the Best Time to Visit
The club is located at Via Jelenia Gora 6 in Milano Marittima, a district of Cervia in the province of Ravenna. It’s about a 90-minute drive from Bologna Airport, and Rimini Airport is about 45 minutes away; the A14 highway (Cesena or Cervia exit) will take you just a few kilometers away.
Thanks to the Bermuda grass and the mild coastal climate, the course is playable year-round. The most pleasant times to play are in the spring (April through June) and in the fall (September/October), when it’s not too hot and the Adriatic seaside resorts are less crowded. In the height of summer, it’s worth getting an early tee time.
Who would enjoy the Adriatic Golf Club Cervia?
The course is a great choice for anyone looking to combine golf with a beach vacation: families and couples who want to enjoy Milano Marittima during the day and squeeze in a flexible round of 9, 18, or 27 holes. Thanks to its Bermuda grass and mild climate, Cervia is also one of the most reliable destinations on the northern Adriatic for winter golfers. Beginners will appreciate the 3-hole short course and the large driving range.
This spot isn't the best choice if you're looking for dramatic mountain ranges and panoramic views—the terrain is intentionally flat. If you want maximum peace and quiet, avoid the peak season in July and August, when the coast is crowded. You can find more destinations for your trip in our overview of Golf in Italy.
