Nervousness During a Stop Leads to the Exposure of a Drug Courier
Carrara – On the afternoon of July 3, a Carabinieri patrol dealt a blow to drug trafficking. During a traffic stop on Via Piave, the officers pulled over a 33-year-old foreign woman in her car. The woman appeared so nervous that the officers became suspicious and ordered a more thorough search.
The officers then searched the woman and her vehicle. In the trunk, they made a significant discovery: Hidden in three large cloth bags were 1,400 slabs of hashish with a total weight of 140 kilograms. In addition, investigators found approximately 3,000 euros in cash, which they also seized.
From Detention to House Arrest
The 33-year-old was immediately arrested and taken to the Pisa prison on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office. Last Monday, July 6, the detention hearing took place before the investigating judge in Massa. There, the woman had the opportunity to respond to the charges. The judge confirmed the legality of the arrest but ordered the suspect to be placed under house arrest. According to investigators’ estimates, the seized drugs could have fetched over one million euros on the black market.
