Getaway Ends with a Crash in a Dead End
Gottolengo – A wild car chase with the Carabinieri ended in an accident and with a 26-year-old Tunisian woman in handcuffs. She is suspected of having tried to dispose of a packet of cocaine while fleeing.
A patrol in Gottolengo noticed the woman's car when she suddenly turned away upon seeing the patrol car. The officers then attempted to pull her over, but instead of stopping, the driver accelerated. She sped away, even driving the wrong way through two roundabouts in an attempt to escape to the center of Isorella.
During the chase, the police officers saw the woman throw a blue package out the driver's window. Shortly afterward, a passerby found the package and immediately handed it over to a patrol car that had been called in for backup. The contents: about 16 grams of cocaine, already divided into ten ready-to-sell doses. The drugs were seized.
The chase finally ended in downtown Isorella. In a dead-end street, the 26-year-old lost control of her car and crashed into a parked car. The officers apprehended the driver. During a search, they found 615 euros in cash in her purse. Investigators believe the money is proceeds from drug sales and seized it as well.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and taken to the holding cells at the Carabinieri barracks in Verolanuova. It should be noted that the investigation is still in its early stages and that the suspect’s guilt can only be established by a final judgment.
