Rome – Following a gruesome triple murder in the western district of Casalotti, an intensive manhunt is underway for the suspected perpetrator. Early Saturday morning, a family from Bangladesh was killed with a hatchet in their apartment: the father, mother, and young daughter died, while the 20-year-old son survived with serious injuries and is being treated at a hospital in Rome. He is considered a key witness, as he was able to identify the attacker.
Investigators are working around the clock to locate a 43-year-old man, also originally from Bangladesh, who most recently lived in the province of Frosinone. His mug shots have been released by the district attorney’s office. According to current information, the suspect knew the family and is believed to have stalked the murdered woman in the past. Investigators are looking into a possible motive related to a romantic relationship or jealousy.
The Casalotti Triple Murder: A Survivor as a Key Witness
According to the current reconstruction of events, the attacker is believed to have first killed the mother and daughter and then, when the father and son returned home, attacked them as well. The young man managed to escape and raised the alarm. His condition is serious, but according to the hospital, his life is not in danger.
The case has sent shockwaves through the neighborhood. Residents describe an unassuming family that had lived in the neighborhood for years. While special forces search for the fugitive, forensic investigators and medical examiners are securing evidence at the crime scene. The authorities urged the public not to approach the suspect themselves but to report any information to the police immediately. It was initially unclear whether the man was still in hiding in the Rome area or had already left the region.
