Weapon, drugs and electricity theft discovered on 48-year-old man
Taranto - Following a targeted investigation, the Carabinieri searched the home of a 48-year-old man in Taranto. They made a triple discovery: an illegal weapon, drugs and a manipulated electricity meter.
In a drawer in the bedroom closet, carefully wrapped in a cloth, the officers discovered a 32 caliber revolver. The weapon bore neither a brand nor a serial number and is therefore considered illegal.
The investigators also found several grams of cocaine. Five precision scales as well as material for packaging and stretching the drugs indicate that the man not only possessed the substances, but probably also trafficked them.
But that was not all: the 48-year-old had apparently also manipulated his electricity meter. He tapped energy directly from the public grid via an illegal connection in order to avoid paying his bills.
The carabinieri confiscated all the finds. Specialists will now examine the drugs, while the revolver will be sent to Rome for forensic examination. The aim there is to clarify whether the weapon was used in previous crimes.
The man was arrested and taken to Taranto prison by order of the judicial authorities. He is presumed innocent until a final verdict is reached.
