Rome – Arrest Warrant Executed Following Brutal Robbery at Parking Ticket Machine
The Carabinieri have arrested a man suspected of assaulting and injuring a 56-year-old woman at a parking meter. An investigating judge in Rome issued an arrest warrant for the 48-year-old homeless man at the request of the public prosecutor's office. He is charged with robbery and assault.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 13 on Via Ostiense. The 56-year-old Roman woman was about to pay for her parking ticket when a man approached her from behind. He suddenly punched her in the face, snatched her purse, and fled on foot. The purse contained personal documents and cash.
Emergency responders took the injured woman to Umberto I Hospital. She was treated there and discharged with a recovery prognosis of 30 days.
Investigators from the Garbatella Carabinieri station analyzed video footage from the area, interviewed witnesses, and showed the victim photographs. This led to mounting evidence pointing to the 48-year-old man, who is already known to the police. Yesterday afternoon, the man was tracked down and taken to the „Regina Coeli“ prison.
The accused is presumed innocent until a final judgment is rendered.
