Major Raid on the Nightlife Scene
Crema – During the night leading into Saturday, the Carabinieri conducted a large-scale operation in Crema and the surrounding area. Six patrols comprising twelve officers checked a total of 98 people and 46 vehicles from midnight until the early morning hours. The operation focused primarily on nightlife, drunk drivers, and illegal possession of weapons.
The night ended in jail for a 30-year-old man. Officers from the Romanengo police station executed an arrest warrant issued by the Brescia Public Prosecutor’s Office. The man, who has multiple prior convictions, must now serve the remainder of his sentence, which is nearly two years. He had been convicted in 2019 after using violence against police officers during a traffic stop. The officers took him directly to the Cremona correctional facility.
Drinking and Drug Use While Driving
Law enforcement officers also pulled over several drivers who had gotten behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A 46-year-old man was charged for refusing to take a drug test. Officers had previously found traces of cocaine in his car, and the occupants showed clear signs of drug use. His driver’s license was revoked and the vehicle was impounded.
A 20-year-old driver in Crema blew a blood alcohol level of over 1.4 per mille—nearly three times the legal limit. A 61-year-old man in Romanengo was also caught with a blood alcohol level of just under 1.1 per mille. Both had their driver’s licenses revoked immediately.
In addition, the Carabinieri reported two young men to the prefecture after finding them in possession of hashish for personal use. A 19-year-old had tried to discreetly discard a small package containing over nine grams in a park in Offanengo. Another teenager was caught with about 3.5 grams of the drug when his group was stopped for disturbing the peace.
