MILAN - A terrible relationship crime has taken place in Milan's Gorla district. The 29-year-old influencer Pamela Genini was murdered in her own apartment by 52-year-old Gianluca Soncin. The perpetrator stabbed the young woman 24 times, fatally wounding her in the neck, back, chest and arms. After the crime, he turned the weapon on himself and inflicted a serious stab wound to his neck. He was arrested and is in hospital, but his life is not in danger.
The crime was apparently triggered by the young woman's intention to end her relationship with the much older man. Witness statements from the victim's circle of friends indicate that Soncin had been stalking, threatening and physically abusing her for some time.
A last desperate attempt at deception
The crime only came to light thanks to the attention of neighbors who heard the woman's heart-rending cries for help and immediately called 911. When the alerted police officers rang the doorbell, Pamela Genini tried to distract the perpetrator in a last, desperate attempt to save her life. She called out to him: "This is Glovo", hoping he would think the food delivery service was harmless. But Soncin started stabbing her instead. The police officers who arrived had to break down the door, but could do nothing more for the young woman.
Investigators consider stalking and intent to be proven
The responsible public prosecutor accuses the perpetrator of murder with several aggravating circumstances. These include base motives, cruelty, premeditation and stalking. The investigators assume that the crime was planned, as Soncin had brought the knife to the apartment and had previously illegally obtained a duplicate key to her apartment. Although there were reports of repeated threats and abuse in the victim's environment, the authorities have not yet received any official reports.
