Taranto - The Carabinieri have targeted a construction site in a coordinated operation against undeclared work in the province of Taranto. In Grottaglie and Monteiasi on Monday morning, June 8, 2026, the officers checked compliance with the regulations for the protection of workers together with the labor inspectorate.
Investigators discovered irregularities at a construction site where an outdoor floor was being laid. A 56-year-old businesswoman from Monteiasi had failed to register two occasional self-employed workers with the labor inspectorate in Taranto as required. For this omission, the authorities imposed an administrative fine of 1,700 euros on the woman, who, as the owner of the company, also commissioned the work.
The inspection was part of a larger initiative by the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Taranto. The aim is to strengthen legality in the world of work, in particular safety on construction sites and the correct registration of employees. During the operation, the carabinieri also carried out general checks on people and punished several violations of road traffic regulations.
