Several properties in Calabria seized
Castrovillari - The Carabinieri forestry units are stepping up their efforts to combat environmental crimes in the province of Cosenza. In cooperation with the Castrovillari public prosecutor's office, several violations have been uncovered in recent weeks, leading to charges and confiscations.
In Morano Calabro, officials stopped the construction of a facility for dogs in the „Crancia“ district. The investigators discovered that the work was taking place in an area where new buildings are strictly prohibited. Only interventions on existing buildings would have been permitted. There were also discrepancies in the approved excavation quantities. The construction site, which had already begun, was confiscated. The owner, the project manager and the planner were reported to the police.
End-of-life vehicles on unpaved ground
Another operation also took place in Morano Calabro. On the premises of a company in the „Crocefisso“ district, numerous end-of-life vehicles were stored directly on unpaved ground. There was a real danger that oil, fuel and other environmentally harmful liquids could seep from the wrecks into the ground. The carabinieri confiscated the area and reported the company's legal representative.
In the „Cammarata“ industrial area of Castrovillari, a tip-off via the environmental emergency call led to a third operation. Officers from Trebisacce and Castrovillari intervened due to illegal waste incineration. The owner of a company and two of his workers were reported.
