Paduli - The tranquil municipality of Paduli in the province of Benevento was the scene of a terrible act of violence today, Monday. According to initial findings, a protracted family dispute between a 37-year-old security guard and his 45-year-old wife escalated in the Femmina Arsa district. At around midday, the man grabbed a gun and fired several times at his partner.
Ambush within your own four walls
According to reconstructions by the investigators, the husband is said to have ambushed his wife. The shots were fired as she entered their home. The seriously injured woman apparently tried to get to safety inside the apartment, where she was later found lying in a pool of blood by the arriving emergency services. Despite her serious injuries, the victim showed enormous presence of mind and alerted her sister by telephone, who immediately informed the authorities.
The carabinieri of the Benevento company rushed to the scene and were able to arrest the 37-year-old security guard near the house. He offered no resistance during his arrest. What is particularly tragic is that the couple have two children together, aged nine and twelve. Fortunately, the minors were not in the house at the time of the crime, which spared them the sight of this gruesome scene.
Medical battle for the victim's survival
The 45-year-old was admitted to the San Pio Hospital in Benevento with the highest level of urgency (Code Rosso). A medical bulletin from the hospital confirmed the severity of the injuries, particularly in the area of the axillary artery and the abdomen. The patient had to be intubated immediately and undergo complex vascular surgery to reconstruct the damaged artery. Her condition is currently classified as stable but still critical.
The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to clarify the exact background to the crime. According to the provincial commander of the Carabinieri, there have been no official reports or complaints of domestic violence against the family in the past, which makes the crime all the more unpredictable for the social environment.
