After a tense search operation, five-year-old Allen, who disappeared from a campsite in Latte near Ventimiglia on Friday evening, was found safe and sound. The child was carried in the arms of rescue workers and greeted with applause by a relieved crowd in the Dofplatz square in Latte. Many of those present were visibly moved by the news that the boy had been found and was in good health.
Allen was discovered on a hill behind Latte. A rescue worker who found him expressed his confidence: "We always believed."
The boy was located within a radius of around three kilometers from where he disappeared. The extensive search efforts, coordinated by the fire department and involving a large number of emergency services, were concentrated there. A group of volunteers finally tracked Allen down near a hut in an inaccessible area on a road above the supermarket. From there, the trail led up the hill, a direction the rescuers had focused on from the beginning. Their strategy was based on the analysis of video footage from the campsite cameras and the testimony of a witness who had seen the boy near the supermarket.
Allen's father was deeply moved and expressed his gratitude in a few words: "Thank you to everyone, everything went well, really. Thank you all." He hugged his little boy, who was still in the ambulance. He then drove with him in an ambulance escorted by the police to the hospital, where Allen was medically examined.
