Nine Reports of Environmental Offenses Near the Beach
Investigators Seek Driver's License Suspension for Litterers
Salerno – Nine people are facing charges in Salerno for illegal waste disposal. The Carabinieri Forest Police filed charges against them in July following a targeted investigation. They are accused of simply dumping both hazardous and non-hazardous waste on a public road—just a few meters from the beach.
During their inspections, investigators focused on ecologically valuable urban areas that are repeatedly targeted by polluters. The individuals who have now been identified used their personal vehicles to haul the trash to the beach and dump it there.
This incident could prove particularly costly for the perpetrators. The Carabinieri have filed a request with the relevant prefecture in Salerno to revoke the driver’s licenses of all nine suspects as an additional penalty. The authorities must now decide whether to grant the request.
