Palermo – The Carabinieri have arrested four young men, aged 16 to 23, in Palermo and the surrounding area on drug trafficking charges. During the raids, officers seized a large quantity of cocaine and numerous vials of crack.
Nervousness During a Routine Checkup
In the town of Villabate, officers stumbled upon a major discovery during a routine check. A 23-year-old man was already under house arrest there and was wearing an electronic ankle monitor. When the Carabinieri visited him, both he and his 22-year-old brother appeared visibly nervous. The subsequent search of the home confirmed the officers’ suspicions: In the bedroom closet, they found a shoebox. Hidden inside were five plastic bags containing a total of 850 grams of cocaine, some of which had already been divided into individual sales portions.
Crack dealers in downtown
Investigators were also successful in the Palermo city area. In the Borgo Vecchio neighborhood, they stopped an 18-year-old known to the police. He had hidden 60 doses of crack in a parked car. He was also carrying 200 euros, which officers believe came from drug sales. In the Zisa neighborhood, a 16-year-old gave himself away by acting suspiciously when he saw a patrol car. During the stop, the Carabinieri found 20 doses of crack on him.
An investigating judge has confirmed all the arrests. The seized drugs are now being analyzed in a laboratory. All defendants are presumed innocent until a final judgment is rendered.
