Scarano and Maupas Host the Venice Film Festival
The duo will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 83rd Mostra
Venice – The Venice International Film Festival has selected its host duo for the upcoming edition. Actress Greta Scarano and actor Nicolas Maupas will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 83rd Mostra del Cinema. With this selection, the Biennale is already setting its sights on the festival on the Lido, which will once again draw international stars to the lagoon in late summer.
Greta Scarano is one of the most versatile actresses in Italian film and television and has recently also stepped behind the camera as a director. Nicolas Maupas became known to a wide audience through successful TV series and is one of the leading figures of a younger generation of actors. Together, they are expected to bring a fresh, cross-generational tone to the ceremonies.
The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and traditionally marks the start of the fall awards season for international cinema. Those who win the Golden Lion here or celebrate a highly acclaimed premiere often have good prospects for further awards. For Italy, the festival is both a cultural flagship and a significant economic driver for the lagoon city.
In the coming weeks, attention will focus on the lineup of the competition and the question of which big names will be screening their films in Venice. Experience has shown that at the Lido, arthouse productions mix with films aimed at winning major film awards later on.
By announcing the hosting duo early on, the Biennale is making a strong first impression for this year’s edition. For Scarano and Maupas, the role provides a prominent platform—and for the audience, it offers a taste of the glamorous evenings that will define the red carpet at the Lido in late summer.
