Cefalù - The carabinieri have arrested a 72-year-old man in the Sicilian coastal town for drug trafficking. A 20-year-old man was reported at large in the same operation. Both men were already known to the authorities.
Investigators apprehended the senior shortly after he had apparently sold drugs. The man was already under a police caution. During the subsequent search, the officers found eleven packets of cocaine, two digital precision scales and 2,750 euros in cash. The investigators assume that the money came from the drug deals.
The targeted action was supported by the dog squadron from Palermo. Sniffer dog „Aron“ drew the attention of the carabinieri to the 20-year-old's garage. There they discovered 18 grams of hashish, another set of scales and material for packaging the drugs.
The confiscated substances are now being analyzed in the laboratory of the Provincial Command. An investigating judge at the court in Palermo has already confirmed the arrest of the 72-year-old. The presumption of innocence applies to both suspects until a final verdict is reached.
