A serious traffic accident occurred yesterday evening in Sciacca, Sicily, when a car drove into a German tourist family in a traffic-calmed zone. The mother was seriously injured, while her husband and their daughter suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred in Via Roma. The driver of a vintage car, an elderly man from Sciacca who had previously lived in Germany, apparently lost control of his vehicle. According to initial findings, a brake failure may have been the cause. The car then ran over the three pedestrians.
The woman with the head injury was immediately taken to the "Giovanni Paolo II" hospital. The husband, daughter and driver also suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment.
Rescue vehicles from the 118 service were quickly on the scene to treat the injured and take them to hospital. Officers from the Sciacca police station began investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
